The 2022 RAM 2500 is an award-winning heavy-duty pickup truck with plenty of power for daily driving, off-roading, and work tasks. The larger cousin to the popular RAM 1500 comes in six trims with automatic transmissions and respectable towing capabilities.

Impressive Horsepower and Torque

The 2022 RAM 2500 performance features include a pair of powerful engine choices. The first is the standard 6.4-liter V8 with 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. The second is the 6.7-liter inline-six Cummins diesel with 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. The Power Wagon off-road performance truck only comes with the V8 and ll-wheel drive, while the other trims come standard with the V8 and offer the optional diesel engine and a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

The V8 comes standard with an eight-speed automatic, while the Cummins diesel has a six-speed automatic transmission. The Corporate six-speed electronically controlled, multirange transmission with responsive performance and low noise and vibration to quiet the Cummins diesel engine.

Drivers who want off-road capabilities can choose the Power Wagon with all-terrain tires, hill descent control, and upgraded off-road suspension. Despite the Power Wagon having the upgraded suspension and electronically locking transfer case, the other RAM 2500 trim levels can still
manage off-road terrain thanks to larger tires, substantial clearance, and significant torque.

Towing Capacity & Available Features

The 2022 RAM 2500 has outstanding towing capacity, especially with the high-output Cummins diesel and a four-wheel-drive Crew Cab. This combination gives the RAM 2500 a towing capacity of 20,000 pounds and a maximum payload of 3,160 pounds.

Buyers who choose the V8 get impressive towing capacity, too. This engine uses variable-cam timing to achieve 410 horsepower and a refined transmission for on-the-fly shift mapping. The legendary Hemi engine tows a maximum of 17,540 pounds and has a 4,010 payload capacity, all supported by the best-in-class horsepower.

To make towing convenient and safe, the 2022 RAM 2500 features the available high-tech Trailer 360 Surround View Camera. The Trailer Hitch Light helps drivers attach their trailers during the day and night. Buyers can also add a Digital Rearview Mirror with Tow Mode to watch a live feed from the trailer camera connected to the rear bumper. Drivers can also add the Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring system for up to four trailers. The information about the tires goes directly to the Driver Information Digital Cluster Display on the dash.
